Culottes, spaghetti straps, overalls, cropped tops, front tie shirts  and runners with a dress . . . I had not realised, but the the 90s are back.

So the crazy thing about all this is I can hear myself saying, the things my mum used to say to me, ' I remember these the first time round.'  However, I did not actually realise the 90s had a style, I just thought it was a mix of everything (and a bad one at that) which we would never come to see again.  How wrong was I?

My fist dive back into the 90s was at the end of last summer when I bought (in every colour) some Jelly Shoes, I must admit I did wear them to death.  They are great for Perth as you can make them look smart with an outfit and still be ready to hit the beach.

Since then my jump back into the 90s has continued I am obsessed with Culottes.  I remember back at school I really wanted a pair of culottes and one of the girls I went to school with had a purple pair - I was so jealous.  However I was so happy when I finally convinced my mum I needed a pair.  Now I am obsessed with them all over again. The good thing about being a giraffe is culottes look good on taller people - it is match made in heaven.  So I bought a pair from Topshop on the open day in Perth - I am just a little in love with their pink culotte-ness.  (I am thinking I will have to do a whole post on culottes as I may have ordered some more).

Another obsession I have at the moment from the 90s is Mom Jeans - I love them!!  They are so comfortable and the outfit possibilities are endless.

I bought my Mom Jeans at H&M when I was in Melbourne with The Shep and I love them I am so excited about making outfits to work with them.  They are the comfiest jeans ever.

So next on my 90s shopping list are:

• Denim Overalls 
• Denim shirts - I feel denim on denim coming on
• Holographic clutch bag - possibly this one from Hello Parry 
• Flannel Shirts
• Not sure on the friendship bracelets revival but I do like these Friendship Watches from Louun

The very top of my list is some Nike runners to bring back the runners with a dress look.

So it is safe to say the 90s are back and I am not so sure any of us really thought it would happen.

A couple of weekends ago Hello Parry held a massive sale in Northbridge and invited a number of bloggers along to sell some of their stuff too.  So obviously I had to go.  I headed there with a friend of mine, my plan was that I was going to buy a gift for my sister but I knew I was going home with lots of goodies for me really.

I got a fab black plunge neckline playsuit for a steal at $20 from one of the bloggers stalls.  I am slightly obsessed with playsuits and have been for a good year now. The benefits of being a giraffe is that they work for tall people.  

I also got an amazing white with black piping neoprene cape top from Hello Parry for $30.  I still need to give this top a debut must find an outfit which works for this one.

Also from a bloggers stall who was donating all the money from her sales on that day to a women's charity in Perth, I got two necklaces for $2 each - ahhh!  One was an amazing gold, chain mail, tasseled necklace made JUST for me I am certain of it.  The other was a boho beaded dream.

When ever I go away somewhere the hardest part is the packing as I love to have a choice when I get there.  For Melbourne this was harder as I had heard you can have all different seasons in one day(minus the snow) so I had to be prepared (no cagoules though).  

So the outfit for the first day was my amazing Sass and Bide Blazer I got from my even more amazing friends for my birthday.  I love it so much.  I decided since there was a chance of rain that day I opted for trousers.  I wore my amazing leather look joggers from Cotton On.  I never thought there would be the day I would be wearing joggers out of the house but there are so many smarter jogger options out there these days that they no longer need to be something for lounging around the house.  Cotton On have an excellent range (I may have bought a few) worth a look great price too. 

I was also so excited about this fab new gold chain mail tassel-tastic necklace which I picked up at the Hello Parry Bloggers sale for only $2.  So with a necklace as fab as that it had to be a Sports Girl basic grey top.  All topped off with my favourite bag of all time a birthday gift from The Shep - Mulberry Effie.

I think the outfit enjoyed a trip to Melbourne as much as I did.

The Shep and I decided we would take a little trip to Melbourne and see what all the fuss was about.  The Shep had been before but with work so had not really had a chance to see the place properly.  I, on the other hand had not been at all.  The day before we were leaving I met my friend for coffee before work and she said 'I am so upset, because one of my best friend is leaving Perth' my was like 'OME who do I know them?'  She said, 'Yeah you, you will go to Melbourne and never want to come back.'

So the tip began.  The Shep and I were up super early doors for our flight and off we went.  We had decided we would stay in St Kilda as it would encourage us to get out and see the city rather than staying in the CBD.  We got in to Melbourne just after lunch time and we were picked up by a lovely driver called Dave who on the trip down to St Kilda told us all out places to visit in Melbourne and places he liked to go (if your hotel offers a car collection from the airport - take it, it was much better than a taxi down and the same price).  When we arrived at out Hotel The Prince it looked lovely it was an old Art Deco Building.  I love all things Art Deco - I often think I was born in the wrong era.  

So I am sure many of you have been to Melbourne or have heard about the cool alley ways with little cafes, bars and amazing street art. Well yes indeed Melbourne is full of these quirky alley ways and The Shep and I explored them all.  When ever we go away we always end up walking for miles and miles and miles.

Our favourite meal in Melbourne was at Chin Chin.  We have stalked as everyone does the lives and loves of Melbourne on social media and in particularly food as The Shep and I are foodies for sure.  We had read good reviews online about Chin Chin so it was definitely one on the list for our trip.  The particular night we ended up there was the night we decided to wing it.  We were on the tram from St Kilda into the city and we over heard some fellow tram goers talking about Chin Chin (I liked her outfit so thought they were worthy references for the place) so we decided we would head there for some food.  

So glad that we did and so glad that we had not booked a table as it meant we got a seat at the bar.  The bar looks into the kitchen so you get to see the busy chefs cooking away in their very own way which seemed like a synchronised dance routine.

I would say that any trip to Melbourne would not be complete without a trip to Chin Chin but do not book and just wing it - the bar seat is more fun.

There were so many places we visited in Melbourne and I could go on and on about them but instead here are some pics and links for you . . . 

Mr Tulk - great for a coffee and a brownie.  Attached the the library which is worth a look around. 

Prahran Hotel - a fab old hotel brought back to life - worth a visit

State of Grace - great food, great drinks and I am not going to say anything else but ask to go down stairs and see what you can find - MUST go.

The Seamstress - yummy lunch in a lovely old building just gutted the cocktail bar was not open when we went - will just have to go back.

So, this was some of our highlights from Melbourne but I am sure we only touched the surface (I did not see any toasted sandwiches on parachutes dropping from above) guess we will just have to go back again.
